Adventure therapy is a relatively new therapy that is offered to individuals who are battling an addiction or a severe mental health issue, but it has quickly gained acclaim and evidence backing for its efficacy. This is why Relevance Behavioral Health is pleased to be integrating it alongside their other treatment modalities, and they believe it can be particularly valuable in improving a patient’s overall feelings of wellness and wellbeing as they undergo their recovery treatment.

At Relevance Behavioral Health, patients will have the opportunity to participate in immersive experiences in outdoor settings that will encourage them to confront challenges, build resilience, and develop crucial life skills. Activities such as hiking, rock climbing, stand-up paddle boarding, camping trips, and team-building exercises are all available and the licensed and experienced mental health and addiction practitioners at the inpatient and outpatient recovery center have seen that they can all foster a sense of accomplishment and empowerment.

As the center explained, “Adventure therapy creates a strong community base and sober network for clients to see the possibilities of life after treatment. We firmly believe in inspiring with passion and making recovery fun.”

Relevance Behavioral Health’s adventure therapy is designed to complement the existing evidence-based therapies they offer—including individual and group counseling, family therapy, life coaching, and more—and to provide patients with a well-rounded and tailored rehabilitation experience.

The inpatient and outpatient rehab center also offers a host of holistic therapies like art and sound therapy, yoga and massage therapy, meditation and mindfulness, and more.

Relevance Behavioral Health is accepted by most major insurers and they offer a large array of treatment levels and programs.

A spokesperson for the addiction and mental health recovery center said, “Our addiction and mental health treatment program in New Jersey is unique, holistic, multidisciplinary, and integrative. When clients begin their journey at Relevance Behavioral Health, they can expect a truly individualized approach when treating mental health, addiction and co-occurring disorders.”
